What exactly is a vdot90?

Despite what you may think, younger people of earth, the handle doesn’t actually denote that I was born in 1990. Instead, v.90 was the last type of dial-up modem before AOL imploded and broadband took over. Blazing at 56 kilobytes per second, a v.90 modem was the technology that truly introduced me to the virtual world of cyberspace.

That said, this website is so much more. My name is Winson Shuen and this is where I throw down my daily thoughts, life lessons, and otherwise some very dorky stuff (like videogames :D ).

I also happened to work at IGN but I am not an editor, so everything expressed here are solely from my own perspective and do not represent IGN by any means.

If you wish to get in touch with me, feel free to send me an email or a Twitter @reply like all the cool kids do nowadays.

  1. It is an awesome username. I probably just recycled my US Robotic v90 this past month. It would have been even faster if it actually was kilobytes. I had to double check myself – it is actually kilobits, which explains why even now 1 Mbps does not actually mean you can download 1Mbyte in one second but actually closer to 125kbytes! Anyway, cool story, broh!
